Editorial independence
Advertisers do not select topics, approve articles, alter firm profiles, receive favorable treatment, or influence directory inclusion or order. Editorial staff may consider reader needs and public interest, but not an advertiser's preferred outcome.
Research and review
- Use primary and official sources when reasonably available.
- Identify the source and date for material, time-sensitive claims.
- Distinguish verified facts from a firm's own statements.
- Avoid copying biographies, marketing copy, review text, photographs, or logos without permission.
- Require a human editor to review every profile and article before publication.
- Identify the author and reviewer for substantive legal explainers; use licensed-attorney review where the content interprets law.
Use of automated tools
Automated tools may help organize sources, detect stale links, compare factual fields, or prepare a draft. They do not replace source review or editorial judgment. A human editor must verify material claims before publication.
Legal and health information
We explain general topics, not an individual's rights, diagnosis, treatment, deadline, claim value, or likely result. Legal rules change and differ by jurisdiction. Health and exposure content relies on authoritative public-health or regulatory sources when available and is not medical advice.
We avoid alarmist claims, guaranteed outcomes, unsupported comparisons, and language that pressures a reader to hire a lawyer.
Firm profiles
Profiles focus on factual information a consumer can evaluate, such as locations, publicly stated practice areas, lawyer admissions, languages, and direct links. We do not label a firm as the best, top, preferred, certified, or a specialist unless we are accurately describing a credential from an identified authorized source.
Conflicts and ownership
Material financial, professional, or personal relationships that could reasonably affect a reader's evaluation must be disclosed near the relevant content. The site will not present an affiliated firm's content as independent editorial material.
Corrections
We correct supported factual errors promptly and do not give advertisers preferential correction or removal rights. Material corrections may be noted on the affected page. See our Corrections Policy for the review process.
